Having dedicated to community service works for some years, Hei-Ching
has recently been honoured with the
Outstanding
Service Awards for Tertiary Students Award 2007/2008, and the Hsin Chong K. N. Godfrey Yeh
Education Fund Award for Joint University Projects.
In summer
2005, he was appointed by Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Hong
Kong, as one of the nine partners to organize the
university's first-ever international
service project to raise students' awareness
to global equality. He led a team of local and international volunteers
to deploy humanitarian efforts in several remote villages in Kullu
Valley (the Valley of Gods),
Himachal Pradesh, northern India.
